“Our government is a defender of the people of Gaza and we want to cut off all economic relations with Israel,” Hicabi Kirlangic told IRNA in an interview during a visit to the 24th Iran Media Expo in Tehran on Wednesday.
The ambassador said that people in Türkiye have mounted pressure on the private sector to sever all ties with Israeli companies since the occupying regime launched the genocidal war in Gaza on October 7.
He added that Turkish businesses in the private sector have scaled back their interactions with Israeli companies, and the little ties that continue to exist are “beyond the will of the government.”
“The current government has no desire for economic relations with Israel at all,” Kirlangic stressed.
Asked about Türkiye’s political relations with Iran, the ambassador said the two neighboring countries have similar cultural, social and religious roots, and that Ankara wants to improve relations with Tehran at all levels.
“We believe that improving relations between the two brotherly and neighboring countries can help promote peace in the region,” he said.
